For both youth and adults, this is an outstanding opportunity to become official US Soccer Referees. You do not need to be an active participant (player, coach, etc.) in EDHSC to become a referee for the club (although youth referees who are members of club will receive priority over other youths when it comes to game assignments). Younger referees will get valuable leadership experience and all referees will gain a better appreciation for the laws of the game.
Payment is typically $25-$50 per game, depending on role (center referee vs. assistant referee), age group, and level of competition (comp vs. rec).
In order to become a certified referee:
If you have any questions, please reach out to Brian Samrick, the club's referee coordinator, at email@example.com.
Step 1: Sign up in the Learning Center
Step 2: Complete the Background Check (18+)
If you are at least 18 years old you will be prompted to complete a background check during the certification process outlined below. This can take up to five days to process and MUST be completed before taking the course so please complete this immediately upon sign up. These background checks will only need to be completed every other year. (Background checks from other organizations like CalNorth, US Club, etc. will not qualify.)
Step 3: Take The Course
After you've signed up in the learning center (step 1), you need to select the date on which you intend to complete the field component of the training. EDHSC is hosting two sessions in 2020, all of which will be held 5-8 PM at CSD. Click on the date/hyperlink below to register:
- July 14 (Tues)
- August 6 (Thurs)
You will then be able to begin the online training and testing, which can begin any time, but must be completed at least 24 hours before the field session.
Your badge will be given to you upon completion of the field session.
As soon as you're certified, you need to join Linda Padilla's assigning group If you'd like to referee for EDHSC. Directions are as follows:
When you're ready to referee, you've got to let Linda know when you're available, which you do as follows:
